Emerson Network Power is Recognized as a Dominant Supplier in Data Center Infrastructure Management
Independent research firm lists Emerson’s Trellis™ platform as a primary product offering in data center infrastructure management solutions report
Huntsville,
Alabama [April 26, 2012] –
Emerson Network Power, a business of Emerson (NYSE:EMR) and a global leader in
maximizing availability, capacity and efficiency of critical infrastructure,
has been recognized as a dominant supplier in data center infrastructure
management (DCIM) by Forrester Research Inc., an independent research firm that
provides pragmatic and forward-thinking advice to global leaders in business
and technology.
Forrester’s
March 2012: “Market Overview: Data Center Infrastructure Management
Solutions” report identifies Emerson Network Power as one of two companies
that dominates the DCIM supplier landscape within the data center facility and
infrastructure market as it exists today. The report highlights Emerson Network
Power’s TrellisTM platform, a real-time infrastructure optimization platform that
enables the unified management of data center IT and facilities infrastructure.
The
report also identifies Emerson Network Power as a traditional power and cooling system vendor that
has tight integration with the infrastructure side of the data center and
offers very high-capacity data collection capabilities. The report also points
out that only a few vendors, including Emerson Network Power, offer any kind of
network capacity planning capabilities beyond simple inventories of ports.
“Forrester believes
that Emerson Network Power is currently one of the dominant suppliers in the
DCIM market as it exists today,” wrote report author Richard Fichera, vice
president and principal analyst of Forrester Research, Inc. “Key infrastructure
vendors that infrastructure and operations (I&O) professionals should
consider include Emerson’s Trellis™ platform, a new real-time infrastructure optimization platform
that enables the unified management of the data center’s IT and facilities
infrastructure.”
The
core component of the Emerson Network Power Trellis™ platform is the Avocent® Universal Management Gateway, a
family of unique data center appliances developed to
integrate remote management, service processor management and real-time data
center infrastructure monitoring and event processing into a single device. The
appliance frees up rack space and reduces complexity by consolidating
multiple devices into a single solution that delivers the real-time data
required to optimize data center efficiency and agility. The Trellis™ platform software can manage
capacity, track inventory, plan changes, visualize configurations, analyze and
calculate energy usage, and optimize cooling/power equipment and deliver
enablement for virtualization.
“Our strategy is
to deliver a DCIM solution that breaks down organizational silos and enables
real-time infrastructure optimization,” said Steve Hassell, president of
Emerson Network Power’s Avocent business. “The Trellis™ platform makes
that vision a reality and it is gratifying to see our strategy and vision recognized
by the experts at Forrester.”
